CytoMatrix is a synthetic matrix  that counts among its various  characteristics the property to  capture and store inside its three-  dimensional structure, the  biological material (micro-macro  cells and cell aggregates) from  needle withdrawal samples.

The matrix is composed of chitosan that  creates a three-dimensional structure in acidic  environment with the addition of aldehyde  base. The matrix has a negative charge, which  is useful for retaining biological material.

It is used for FNAB/FNAC,CNB,EBUS    –    TBNA,    in    general    needle biopsy, gyn and non gyn brushing, body cavity effusions, washing, cyst contents, urine.

Theoretically it can be used on a needle biopsy of any  organ or tissue (human and animal).

CytoMatrix preserves (by formalin fixation and  paraffin embedding) the material of an aspirated  needle, on which various routine diagnostic tests will  be performed, from Hematoxylin-Eosin (H&E),  Immunohistochemistry (IHC), FISH, Molecular Biology.  This makes it an essential and, in some cases, an  irreplaceable tool for a complete and accurate  diagnosis.
