RegJoint – an implant for small joint arthroplasty

RegJoint™ mplants are designed for arthroplasty of small joints of the hand or foot in patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis.
The joints in which the product is used are the metatarsophalangeal joints I-V (MTP I-V) of the foot, carpometacarpal (CMC I) and metacarpophalangeal joints II-V (MCP II-V) of the hand.

The RegJoint™ implant is made of a 96L/4D bio-based poly-L/D-lactide copolymer fiber.
It is a round, porous disc-like implant.

RegJoint™ loses its elasticity after 15 to 24 weeks in vivo and dissolves completely within a few years, depending on the patient. Placement of the RegJoint™ implant requires no special tools.
The diameter of the implant ranges from 8 to 20 mm, with a thickness of 3.6 to 4.5 mm

Implanted in situ, it stimulates the formation of living, functional, elastic tissue connected to the ends of the bone.
The implant can be used in bone grafts and, over a period of time, promotes soft tissue growth and allows the gradual growth of fibrous tissue at the implant site, acting as a flexible but permanent joint substitute.
